A Mother's Embrace

Adolphe Jourdan, born August 4, 1825 in Nîmes , where he died 22 February 1889 , was a French painter, known for his genre scenes and portraits.

Biography

Adolphe Jourdan was from 3rd April 1844 a student in the Fine Arts School in Paris. His teacher was Charles Jalabert . Honored for his work in 1864 and 1866, he exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1876 and New York. At the end of his life, he became director of the Fine Arts. He died suddenly at his home after a stroke.
